Dear reader,

Why let go of ‘should?’

Eliminating 'shoulds’ from my life has been an essential part of my self-healing journey. Whether you use the word for yourself, or for others, it’s destructive, and I’ve eliminated it from my vocabulary. Why?

Everything changed for me when I read the book, ‘Codependent No More’ by Melody Beattie. I realized that it wasn't helpful or healthy to give advice and tell friends what they should do. Telling friends what they should or shouldn’t do is codependent behavior. It would be years before I realized how much of my energy I had given away and how poorly that had served me.

Dwelling on what we should do (in the future) distracts us from the now. Spending time filled with regret about what we should have done or said also takes us out of the present moment. Learn how to stay in the now and be more effective in your life.

On my blog this week, How to Create Healthy Boundaries is all about how to keep an eye out for codependent behaviors and how to begin to change them.

Get your energy flowing again in the Now

When we have an accumulation of unresolved emotions, a negative mental state and outdated beliefs begin to congest us, interfering with the free flow of energy within our body. That’s why I created the Breathe in Light self-healing technique: ‘Bright.’ My book, ‘Restore Your Self,‘ introduces how to use breath, Light and intentions to transform and release the accumulated life history stockpiled within us.

As one uses the Bright self-healing technique to transform and release layer after layer of this internal congestion, it becomes easier to remain in the present and not be weighed down by the past or worried about the future. As a result, one may feel more freedom in their life to enjoy the now, to accept and appreciate what is. Another great tool to help release our shoulds.

The book is available on Kindle/audiobook or in paperback.
